Our neighborhood is more than a collection of beautifully preserved and restored houses. The individuals who live here, many for decades, constitute our most treasured resource. Not only do they further the BHDA’s mission by preserving and maintaining their homes, they are also the safekeepers of our story through time. Their memory about historical features, some now lost, and the people who helped shape the life of our community can inform us as we preserve and evolve our community for future generations. In this respect, preservation can be considered more broadly than bricks and mortar. We believe it is very important to capture and document the knowledge of our long-standing residents.
