Why we like the Sidewalk Sale:
Sandy and I participated in our first sidewalk sale in 2005 and we’ve signed up every year since. Here’s why:
1. It’s satisfying to go through closets, drawers and cabinets finding items that haven’t been used in the past year.
2. It’s fun interacting with neighbors and visitors who are both curious and genuinely interested your stuff.
3. It’s amazing to see that people “need” exactly what you are no longer using.
4. It’s satisfying to end the day with a lot less stuff that can then be taken to a Thrift Shop or stored for next year’s sale.
5. It’s nice to end the day with an extra $500 (the minimum we’ve earned)!
Here a few tips we’ve learned over the years:
- Take your time, starting at least a few weeks in advance identifying items and putting them aside.
- Price each item in advance so people don’t have to ask you about the price
- Display your items by category (jewelry, kitchen items, garden tools, etc.)
- Our best-selling items have been jewelry, accessories, kitchen items, tools, home décor, art and outdoor gear.
- Be friendly and have fun!
So, sign up today to have some fun and make some money!!!
