You Point, We Pick at Burnside Colonial Garden!
The Colonial Garden at Burnside Plantation will soon is bursting with organically grown vegetables, herbs, and flowers now available to all visitors!
You can point out something you’d like to take home, and our volunteers will pick it for you in exchange for a donation (cash only) of your choice.
Please try to bring your own bags, baskets, or buckets, as we may not be able to provide any materials other than the plants.
While you’re here, you can ask our volunteers about the history, uses, and maintenance of the plants in our garden. You can also see live cooking demonstrations in the Summer Kitchen (1825) and tour the Farmhouse (1748).
Please Note: The Colonial Garden at Burnside is not pick-your-own. We use many of our plantings for charity and educational purposes. Availability of all items is not guaranteed and produce is first come, first served.
On Saturday, July 2nd 9:30 – 12:00 you’ll find:
– Colorful Flower Bouquets
– Peas (sugar and shelling)
– Fava Beans
– Leaf Lettuces
– New Red Norland Potatoes
– Hard Neck German Garlic
– Red Beets
– Herbs (Basil, Mint, Savory, Sage, Parsley, Chives, Thyme)
